Course Description:
PHIS001 is an introductory course to the philosophical study of the human person with pagpapakatao as the focal point. It is a journey where the students are guided as they explore and reflect on the nature, dynamism, and various dimensions of the human person’s existence, i.e. the significance, meaning, origin and purpose of the human existence, with the goal of becoming a better person for others and for God.
The course uses a threefold philosophical approach: (1) phenomenological, i.e. starting from the date of original and concrete experiences), (2) existential, i.e. human person considered in total experience of the human existence, and (3) Thomistic, i.e. inspired by Thomas Aquinas’ philosophical vision of the human person.
